About Extraordinary Times Trade
Southern African origins. A global trade desk.
ET was founded to connect Southern Africa's raw-material suppliers with steel manufacturers and industrial buyers worldwide — one accountable trade flow, from source to consumer.
Our Story
Built on relationships the industry already trusted.
Extraordinary Times Trade was founded by Michael Oppert, who has spent more than 45 years in the recycling industry and is well respected by consumers and recyclers across Southern Africa and abroad. That reputation — not a cold-start sales pitch — is the foundation ET is built on.
The company sources, trades and delivers ferrous raw materials, chrome, manganese and aluminium, connecting an extensive Southern African supplier network with steel manufacturers and industrial buyers worldwide. ET's role is to keep that flow accountable end to end: sourcing, commercial negotiation, logistics and international delivery, aligned under one desk rather than handed off between parties.
Today, ET's network spans roughly 54 supplier locations across 6 provinces, with material moving from Southern African centres — Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Gaborone, Windhoek, Harare and beyond — into Johannesburg, and from there out to steel and stainless steel producers across four continents.
